Any student enrolled in Queen Anne's County Public Schools, regardless of if they are in a CT Program or not can participate as long as they are 16 years or older.

Typically this program is reserved for Juniors or Seniors, as long as your are 16 years of age you can participate.

Students will work with their school counselor to complete their application.  once they are selected by a business they will receive a mentor from that business that will help them while they participate.  They will also be monitored by the school to ensure they will be successful.

If a student is signed on the Youth Apprenticeship Program, they typically go to school for two periods a day and then the other two periods they are at the work place.  This can occur during the morning or afternoon.  Students are required to complete 450 hours of on-the-job training that they are paid for at at least minimum wage or higher depending on the business.

All students that are selected are paid at least minimum wage for a total of 450-hours.

Students can definitely put this on their resume, and its a great opportunity to get into the workplace to learn a trade to figure out if this is something they want to persue.

Any businesses in Queen Anne's county is open to participate.  Businesses in technology, marine industry, manufacturing, and many others.  We welcome all businesses to sign on.

We are just happy to refocus our efforts on the Youth Apprenticeship Program.  Its just a wonderful opportunity for students and businesses to allow students the opportunity to not only further their skills in a certain area but also get paid for their time.  They will also receive credits.
